Kearny Library Receives Library Grants

The Kearny Public Library is excited to announce that we are the recipients of two new book grants!

Kearny Book Grants

L—R: Library Director, Janet Danilow, Assistant Librarians Vickie Lechuga and Meaghan Seller.

The books showcased on the table here were provided via the The Libri Foundation “Books for Children” grant. The Libri Foundation is nationwide non-profit which donates new, quality picture books to rural libraries with an active children’s department. Awards are based upon matching the contributions provided by the library Friend’s organization. The Kearny Friends of Library contributed $350, resulting in an award of over $1,000 worth of hardcover children’s books!

Additionally, the 12 cases of books featured in the background were awarded to us via the “Kids Need to Read” grant. Kids Need to Read is a local non-profit based in Mesa, AZ which provides children’s books for rural schools and libraries in order to encourage literacy programming. KNTR awarded Kearny with hundreds of books which can be used in any way we desire. Kearny plans on using these books to expand our library collection, as well as provide gift bags for participants in our library Summer Reading Program (May 29th – July 3rd), and our upcoming National Library Week poster contest!

The Kearny Public Library wishes to extend its gratitude to the Friends of the Library for supporting us and enabling us to receive these library grants!
